K650 Indoor Ticketing Kiosk

K650 Indoor Ticketing KioskThe Radiant K650 indoor ticketing Kiosk is used for ticketing applications utilizing durable fan-fold ticket stock for tickets / receipts.  This kiosk utilizes a 15” high bright LCD display with the latest touch screen technology.  The computer contained within the kiosk employs the highly efficient Pentium M processor which equates to greater than 2.0GHz performance in a standard Pentium 4 design, but with lower power consumption thereby yielding a more reliable design.  The kiosk also uses Intel’s Centrino™ Mobile Technology, which combines a Pentium M or Celeron M processor, 855 chipset, and optional PRO/Wireless card.  In addition, the terminal is based on Intel’s EmbeddedATX standard motherboard form factor to maintain an open and upgradeable platform.  All of the major components within the kiosk are serviceable / replaceable without the need for tools, resulting in a completely toolless return to service in the event of component issues.

Open Platform Highlights:

The new modular design enables the unit to be configured for a floor stand or wall mount placement while maintaining ADA compliance for accessibility and operation.  The floor stand has leveling feet to adjust to variations of the floor surface. The base also facilitates anchoring the kiosk to the floor for maximum security and safety.  The wall mount configuration can be placed on the wall (may be mounted on a column, pillar, or pole as well), or recessed in the wall with or without optional side mount brackets.  The robustness of the design enables all of the configuration options to be placed anywhere at a cinema site, thereby offering maximum flexibility for placement in high customer traffic areas.

The new modular design also accommodates a variety of peripheral options specific to entertainment ticketing requirements.  The standard ticketing kiosk includes the display with integrated touch screen, a ticket printer (utilizing fan-fold ticket stock) and a magnetic stripe reader (MSR).  The additional options are detailed in the Optional Features section.

This kiosk includes a 15” active matrix, color, 1024 X 768 main display with resistive technology touch screen.  The 15” display is a 56% increase in surface area over the 12” models which allows for improved ease of use with larger more graphical commands, more application design flexibility, better viewability and better resolution.  The high-bright, active matrix screen provides the best possible display quality, with excellent contrast and brightness. Additionally, the dual VGA outputs allow another display to be driven to display additional informational or promotional material.

The resistive touch screen (option) provides a very durable, accurate, and fast touch interface even with a gloved hand or stylus.  In addition, all resistive touch screens ship with a mylar overlay for protection to extend touch screen life and maximize uptime at the site.

The capacitive touch screen (option) provides a very durable, accurate and fast touch interface.  It provides excellent optical properties and brightness.   It is resistant to scratches and other screen wear issues since the touch surface is glass, and therefore provides for a very long touch screen life.

The computer also has multiple powered serial ports including eight RS232 and four USB ports.  This provides expansion capabilities if new devices/peripherals need to be supported without having to buy an add-on expander.  Also, the powered serial ports eliminate the need for power bricks, thereby reducing another point of potential failure.

The kiosk computer supports multiple operating systems including Windows XP Professional and XP Embedded, and therefore supports any Windows based application.  The connectivity provides full support for TCP/IP networking on a 10BaseT or 100 BaseT Ethernet network and it has full support for a wireless network (optional).  Upgradeability and expandability are fundamental to the computer, which is exemplified by the ability to upgrade RAM and storage.  It allows further expansion through the low-profile PCI and PC Card slot.  Toolless service of the MSR, ticket printer and the display / computer module allow for simple troubleshooting and replacement (if necessary).  This attention to serviceability results in minimal down time due to non-functional components.
